Douriez Village award winning bar and restaurant - Estaminet De l'Andouillier

This is a wonderful friendly bar and restaurant. I first went in there on a Thursday evening, when I was buying our home. The first two people that I met were village locals, ex-pats now living in the Authie Valley! The third person I met was Huw a Welsh chap who lives in the village. There were another couple of locals who were very friendly, and made the effort to come and say hello to me.

Steve Prime from Prime Marine Services eating at Estaminet in DouriezAfter I drank my second pint, I was hungry, but didn't want a full meal. With the help of Huw, I was allowed to order a pate sandwich, (I was offered either pate or ham), which I was charged a very reasonable 3 Euros for! Fantastic value, and I was even more impressed when the owner came out to serve them.

Every time I eat there, Michelle makes the effort to come out and shake your hand. He speaks hardly a word of English, but it doesn't seem to matter, he still smiles and makes sure that you are happy with your food, and your evening or lunch. Food is always wonderful, I personally love the 'civet de porc', (pork cheeks - really  succulent and tasty), in a rich sauce, simply served with vegetables, chips and a salad. the 'salade de peragaudine' is wonderful too, but for a starter, its quite a lot.

Price wise, this place is typical of a French regional village restaurant. For a bit of a special dinner, (4 courses on valentines night, champagne on arrival and live music), the cost was something in the region of 45 Euros per person. Now if you consider that that works out to be about £30 per head, and that included a round of beers, 6 bottles of wine, coffees and Cognacs, then that wasn't a bad deal at all! A standard meal there costs about 9 - 15 Euros for a main course. There is of course no hurry at all to finish your meal, as the table is yours for the evening, giving you plenty of time to enjoy your meal in a wonderful relaxed atmosphere.

Please note that the Estaminet de l'Andouillier a Douriez is shut for food from Monday morning through to Wednesday, however the bar is generally open.
